Brother Sam Amos will be presenting a workshop on “Twenty Percent Time Projects for the Religion Classroom.” Sam will speak about the theory and praxis of carrying out 20% Time Projects (also called Genius Hour Projects) in the context of a religion classroom. Special focus will be given to tailoring the projects to some of the desired goals of religious education: reflection, personal growth and formation, and the development of students’ gifts and talents to the service to the Church and world.
Sam teaches freshman and sophomore religion at Marist and works in youth ministry at St. Benedict’s parish in Blue Island, Illinois.
Joanne Paprocki, Curriculum Director at Marist-Chicago, will join with her husband, Joe to present a workshop entitled “How to Jumpstart Your Spiritual Life.” The focus of the workshop is that while a deep awareness of the spiritual life happens in church, it can happen and should also happen in our daily lives. This workshop will explore 10 concrete ways to open our hearts, minds, and classrooms to 10 characteristics of God as revealed in Scripture.
Joanne is a member of Marist High School’s “Faculty Faith Formation” team, and her husband, Joe is a well-known speaker and author on adult faith formation. Joe is the author of many books published by Loyola Press.
