Dear Friend of the Marist Brothers,
Our out of pocket expense for prescription drugs last year was $42,077.83 over budget. The cost is SHOCKING!
Of course, our elderly and disabled Brothers need their medications, so I am in a difficult position. I must find the funds to cover this expense.
I am sure you know the financial pain of going to the pharmacy and being told the co-pay is higher than you expected. Perhaps, like many of our Brothers, you are taking more medications than last year… some of which are very expensive because there is not a generic equivalent.
The cost of heart medications, cholesterol and diabetes medications and chemotherapy drugs has gone through the roof. And yet, out of love and respect, we MUST provide them for our Brothers who need these vital medications.
Will you please help me?
Your gift to help offset these expenses will be a welcome relief to my already stretched budget. No matter how I try, it is not always possible to accurately predict how much these prescription medications will cost for an entire year.
That is why I am left with the shocking amount of $42,077.83 to make up.
The bad news is that is does not end there! This year the costs will be even higher as we add more of our elderly Brothers to the list of those who need these high priced medications, and as the cost of all medical care rises.
We need the love and compassion of friends like you to help us through this medical crisis. I know that, like me, you could not stand to see our Brothers suffer without their needed medications. Can you help today? Can you take a moment now and send a gift that will help me alleviate this problem?
Just yesterday, we picked up three bottles of medicines from the pharmacy. The co-pay was $82. This is a common occurrence and we really need your help with these expenses. The two nickels enclosed are a reminder that money doesn’t go as far as it used to. Yet I believe even small gifts with the right intentions are blessings to both the giver and the receiver.
Don’t forget to include your intentions on the reply slip, along with your gift. Our Brothers will be privileged to remember you and your needs during their daily prayers and Mass.
I look forward to hearing from you, and thank you in advance for any help you can give me in tackling this shocking prescription drug bill of $42,077.83. Your continued prayers and kindness are truly appreciated.
Gratefully yours,
Br. Hugh P. Turley, F.M.S.
