Our Brothers’ nurse needs your help!

Dear Friends,

Can you imagine baking a cake with three key ingredients missing? Without the right supplies there’s not much you can do. It’s a similar scenario for Maria, our fulltime registered nurse who cares for our elderly and disabled Brothers living in a large Marist Brothers’ retirement facility.

Maria watches over the Brothers – monitoring their vital signs every day, examining aches or pains, and keeping close watch on sores or post-op incisions.

Last month, Maria requisitioned three new pieces of medical equipment. While she rarely asks for anything, this time our nurse stood firm. She explained how her old equipment was acting up – delivering unreliable results or sometimes simply no longer working at all! The new instruments she needs would provide the best possible and most expedient care for our elderly and disabled Brothers.

Without further ado, here’s Maria’s wish list:

  • One treatment table. Total cost $767.35.
  • One integrated wall system with diagnostic ear, nose, and throat medical tools. Total cost: $2,092.09.
  • Two portable, rolling blood pressure monitors, one for each floor with bedrooms. Total cost: $273.11.

That brings our grand total to $3,132.55!

While the request is reasonable, we can’t afford these essential tools without your help!

Can we count on your gift, so Maria has the most up-to-date tools as she watches over our Brothers?

This equipment is essential for yet another reason. As Maria monitors our elderly and disabled Brothers’ vital signs and watches over chronic conditions, she not only tracks daily progress but also records negative developments. When things aren’t moving forward as planned or a Brother’s blood pressure unexpectedly spikes, Maria knows it’s time to call in a doctor – before an issue escalates into a genuine problem.

If you can help us cover the cost for new medical equipment, we’ll be so appreciative. Whatever you can afford – whether a gift of $15 or $25 – will be an enormous help.

I hope you understand that every gift, large or small, makes a difference. Think of the two nickels tucked in with my letter. The coins barely buy much of anything these days. Now imagine adding many more nickels and watching the total grow. In the same way, if every Marist Brothers’ friend sends a gift, the total adds up. Soon enough, we’ll have the $3,132.55 needed to cover necessary medical equipment, which will help protect our elderly and disabled Brothers’ health and wellness.

When your gift arrives, the Brothers and I will want to do something special to show our deep appreciation for your kindness. So please, remember to write your prayer intentions on the enclosed response slip. We will thank God for your support and include your prayer intentions in our prayers for you and your loved ones.

I look forward to hearing from you! In the meantime, I hope you’re enjoying a beautiful summer season – filled with all the happiness you so richly deserve.

God bless you for caring,
