Marist Bee Friendly Campus Initiative: The Marist apiary club, Spartan Bee-Cause, is transforming the current Marist campus into a bee friendly campus by improving bee habitat and boosting bee biodiversity. Using structured guidance through the Bee Steward Program at Oregon State University, and program faculty advisor Dr. Andony Melathopoulos, Bee-Cause club members assessed the Marist campus for bee habitat and diversity of pollen and nectar sources as well as flower overlap. Complimentary plant species were identified and recommended for procurement and planting. Learn more about the Marist Bee Friendly Campus Initiative here!

Earlier this month, the freshmen class participated in a “We Are Marist” retreat day led by upperclassmen who participated in the Marist Youth Leadership camp over the summer. The team introduced the freshman to the Marist Pillars (Presence, Simplicity, Family Spirit, Love of Work and In the way of Mary). The day also helped freshmen get more comfortable with their classmates.

'Welcome Week' ended with the Mass of the Holy Spirit that began with a letter from the class of 2024 giving words of encouragement to the class of 2028. Fr. David Cullings’ homily had a skit giving wise words of advice to the students of Marist for the coming school year about using Mass as a time to slow down and let their souls catch up to their bodies.

Local Marists of Champagnat in Eugene, OR, gathered with Br. Sam Amos earlier this month for a reflection and gathering on the theme of “Reclaiming the spirit of l’Hermitage.” Similar gatherings will take place across the Province during the month of October!
