The Province’s Marist Young Adult Community in Austin, Texas, began its eighth year this August with five young adults and Br. Rob Clark. Since the community was established, 26 young adults have taken part in this new expression of the Marist Brothers’ charism.
Community life follows a weekly rhythm of prayer, shared meals, and hospitality. Each week, Marist Monday brings members together for an evening of brotherhood, prayer, and community sharing over a festive meal. The community has also welcomed hundreds of guests from the University of Texas.
Its mission statement captures the spirit of life in Austin:
We are a community of young adults and Marist Brothers united in faith by the love of Christ and guided by the Marist spirit. Our brotherhood is fostered by our commitment to hospitality, group prayer, shared meals, and a genuine concern for each person.
