Keeping Tradition: RC SUMMER SERVICE DAYS

RC Campus Ministry continues its Ministry by keeping tradition with Summer Service Days held June 8th, 9th, 10th. During the three service days we had over 45 students, faculty, alumni, and coaches help make these service days very successful! In total they completed 12 projects Many of the students and faculty volunteered multiple days and gained many memorable experiences.

  • Gazebo Rebuild: One of the major projects, led by Ed Kennedy and Mr.McAuliffe was taking down and rebuilding the outdoor gazebo. The project included taking down the old structure and starting to build the base of the gazebo with the help of students, teachers, and alumni.
  • New RC Signs: Another project led by Mr.Berrios, the President & Principal, spent the days hanging up new Roselle Catholic signs in the Labyrinth courtyard!
  • Mercy House, Newark NJ: A group of students went off Campus to volunteer their day at The Mercy House in Newark. Students got to work sorting an entire room full of donated coats for babies, toddlers, children, women, and men. Once done, the students repackaged all of the coats, now all ready for organized distribution in the upcoming winter. As local residents came through to shop, one incoming RC freshman was able to translate for her so that the staff understood her needs for her baby!
  • RC Community Garden: This project led by Mr.Sullivan C’74 and a few of our students, including incoming freshmen of the Class of 2030. They planted a community garden in the labyrinth courtyard with a variety of flowers and vegetables.
  • Outdoor Clean Up & Painting: Students helped Mr.Skrec C’84, Mr. Araneo, Ms. Vargas and Coach Rock with efforts of cleaning up various areas on RC property as well as repainting the pergola & benches! They moved gravel, old mats, desks and more to help our summer maintenance efforts.
  • Alumni Library: Matt Fallon C’03 and current board president along with Mr.O’Connor our Development Director led a group of students to begin to transform our Library into an Alumni Library Center. They found lots of RC history!
  • Campus Ministry Suite:  Another project led by Matt Fallon C’03 & Ms.Berrios C’18, Director of Campus Ministry, led another project to begin creating an expanded RC Campus Ministry suite! Along with a group of students and recent alumni, they began clearing out the current upstairs space to begin efforts to expand the space to get ready for September!
