Last month, members of the Class of 2027 participated in their One-Day Sophomore Retreat! Stanners focused on the Marist Pillar of Presence and reflected on how they can be more present in their lives and relationships. Ms. Staiano gave a wonderful talk, students participated in a rotation of activities, and there was a visit from Giancarlo Bernini, a magician who performed magic to emphasize that we are most present when we are able to understand ourselves. In addition, sophomores brought in donations that will be used for a Midnight Run service experience in December.
Freshmen, sophomores, and juniors celebrated their Liturgies of the Holy Spirit earlier this semester. Each Mass centered on the theme of “building a hermitage,” and how a hermitage is not just a physical building, but the individual building blocks that make up a community. Celebrants also emphasized that trust in our faith anchors us, allowing us to pursue our passions and be better people, because we know we are doing things for the greater good.
Molloy’s Spanish Club participated in its annual Hallway Parade in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, with students walking through the halls during homeroom, waving flags, and wearing shirts/jerseys representing all of their cultural backgrounds! Casual Day dress-down participants brought in $5 to be donated to the Marist school community in Venezuela.
Friday, September 20th was Senior Backpack Day! Members of the Class of 2025 were encouraged to show off fun children’s backpacks, sporting characters such as the Super Mario Brothers, Barbie, Sonic, and more! At the end of the day, backpacks were dropped off and collected by Campus Ministry to be filled with school supplies that were donated by the freshmen during their Freshman One Day Retreat. Filled backpacks were then donated to Queens Borough Hall, to be distributed around the community.
