The Statutes of the General Chapter, approved in 2017, delegate to the General Council the appointment of the members of three committees before the opening of the General Chapter: Provisional Committee, Committee for verifying the election of delegates, and Committee for reviewing proposals on the Constitutions, Statutes, and Rule of Life. At the last plenary session of the General Council, the members of these committees were appointed.
The Provisional Committee
This committee is convoked some days before the opening date of the Chapter to establish the program for the first few days. Once the Chapter opens, the Order of the Day will always be approved by the Assembly. The appointed Brothers of this committee are:
Committee for verifying the election of delegates
This committee, according to the Statutes of the General Chapter (N. 25), is responsible for verifying the election of each delegate and must notify the Capitulars of the minutes of the election of the delegates. After the verification is complete and the minutes approved, the Brother Superior General declares the General Chapter regularly constituted. The appointed Brothers are:
Committee to review proposals on the Constitutions, Statutes, and Rule of Life
Every Brother has the right to submit proposals to the General Chapter. These proposals may concern changes to the Constitutions, Statutes, and Rule of Life. The function of this committee is to examine the proposals with suggested amendments and make recommendations for consideration by the General Chapter through the facilitation commission.
