Br. William Lavigne

Br. William Lavigne is celebrating his 70th Jubilee as a Marist Brother. He entered the Marist Brothers Novitiate on July 26th, 1950. He earned a BA in history from Marist College in 1954 and also earned three Masters degrees - first, in sociology from Seton Hall University, a second in Religious Studies from Darlington School of Theology, and a third in Religious Studies from Notre Dame University. He taught for many years at both Marist High School in Bayonne, NJ, as well as John A. Coleman High School in Kingston, NY. He served the USA Province as Novice Director for seven years as well as coordinator of our retirement house at 136th Street in Florida for three years. He dedicated almost 40 years to serving in roles such as Religious Education Coordinator, an Adult Faith Coordinator, a Parish Pastoral Associate and a Pastoral Care coordinator in NJ and WV. He has a great love of music and has been a member of the St. Helen’s Parish choir for many years. He is currently enjoying his retirement years as a member of the Roselle Catholic Marist Brothers community and continues to volunteer at Rahway State Prison as well as St. Helen’s parish.
