Celebrating 60 Years as a Marist Brother!

Br. Kenneth Hogan is celebrating his 60th Jubilee as a Marist Brother this year. He attended the Marist Brothers Juniorate at Cold Spring-on-Hudson, NY, from 1960-63. He entered St. Joseph Novitiate at Tyngsboro, MA, in 1963. He became a Novice in 1964 and professed his First Vows in 1965 and his Perpetual Vows in 1971. Br. Ken completed a BA in English at Marist College in 1968 and began his career as a teacher at Our Lady of Lourdes High School in Poughkeepsie, NY (1968) and then went to Central Catholic High School in Wheeling, WV (1968-70). He worked for the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston, WV, as Assistant Director of Religious Education (1970-74) and served as principal of St. Agnes Boys High School in New York City (1974-77). He also served as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal of Central Catholic High School in Lawrence, MA (1977-91) and as a teacher at Fr. Matignon High School in Cambridge, MA (1991-92). In 1992 he was director of the Marist House of Retirement in Lawrence, MA, and then served as Superintendent of Schools for the Diocese of Manchester, NH (1995-2001). He returned to Central Catholic in Lawrence as a counselor (2001-10), then at Archbishop Molloy High School in Briarwood, NY (2011) and at Mt. St. Michael Academy, Bronx, NY (2012). Br. Ken then served as the Executive Director of the MBCE in 2013. He earned numerous graduate degrees from the University of Detroit, the University of Notre Dame, as well as St. John’s University. He was a staff member of our Marist Brothers Novitiate in Poughkeepsie, NY, and has continued to serve as a member of numerous Province Committees. He currently resides at the Marist Brothers’ Residence at Leeds Terrace in Lawrence, MA.
