Br. Gerald Doherty is celebrating his 60th Jubilee as a Marist Brother this year. He entered the Marist Brothers' Novitiate in Tyngsboro, MA, in 1962. After taking his first vows in 1963, he attended Marist College and earned a BA in history in 1966. He began teaching at Mt. St. Michael Academy in the Bronx, NY (1966-1972), then at Marist High School in Chicago, IL (1978–1984), and at Central Catholic in Lawrence, MA (1985- 1988). He worked as vocation director and contact director for the Province (1972-1978) as well as a guidance counselor at Mt. St. Michael Academy (1988-1996, 2006–2019) and St. Agnes High School (1996-2005). He earned a master's degree in religious education from Loyola University in Chicago, IL, in (1983) as well as a master's degree in social work from Fordham University (1996). He is a certified spiritual director and currently lives at the Champagnat Hall Community in the Bronx, NY. He made his Perpetual Profession in 1972 and professed the Vow of Stability in 2000.
