#Enough

On March 14th, 2018 students across the United States took part in the #ENOUGH School Walkout. At 10am students were challenged to walk out of class for 17 minutes, to honor the 17 lives lost on February 14th, 2018 at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.

Students from Marist schools around the province worked over the last week to arrange prayer services to memorialize those 17 lives lost, and also to honor all of the lives lost due to gun violence over the years. We hope the experience encouraged Marist students to keep working toward change, and to live in solidarity with those who may not have a voice.

“Be a nuisance when it counts. Do your part to inform and stimulate the public to join your action. Be depressed, discouraged, & disappointed at failure & the disheartening effects of ignorance, greed, corruption & bad politics – but never give up.”

**Unfortunately, students from Central Catholic High School in Lawrence, Massachusetts were unable to participate because the school was closed due to weather conditions.**

Next week, on March 24th, the student survivors of the Parkland school shooting have organized the “March for Our Lives” in Washington, D.C. In solidarity with the “March for Our Lives” the Provincial Chapter Meeting will observe a moment of silence at their meeting next weekend.
