I wrote to you recently about the toxic black mold discovered behind walls and under floors in a Marist Brothers’ retirement facility. One bedroom and four bathrooms were dangerously infected.
Many kind friends responded to my plea for help, but we are still far from our goal of raising the $48,560 for mold remediation plus rebuilding.
Your gift could be the one that takes us over the finish line! Please send your support today to help our Brothers.
The health hazard escalated because we originally couldn’t see the toxic black mold. It was spreading behind tiles and drywall. What we did know, however, was that Br. Charles and Br. Thomas, two elderly Brothers living in that retirement facility, were finding it increasingly difficult to breathe.
After ruling out allergies and viral infection, our doctor suggested that we have the retirement facility tested for black mold. Much to everyone’s surprise, four bathrooms and one bedroom tested positive.
We’re still struggling with the $48,560 it took to remediate, repair, replace, and rebuild. As a valued friend, we’re hoping that you’ll send a gift today. Whether you can afford to share $15, $25, or more, your support will be greatly appreciated.
Please send what you can today, so we can finally cover and close this huge project in our elderly Brothers’ retirement facility.
When we first heard the $48,560 project cost, everyone gasped. Why couldn’t we wash down walls and floors? Unfortunately, our experts explained, water leaks and dampness behind bathroom tiles had gone unseen for too long. The problem had spread beyond an “easy” fix.
- Walls and floors in the bathrooms and bedroom had to be torn down and after mold remediation, replaced.
- This much aggressive black mold required professional removal and remediation.
- Leaking pipes and corroded bathroom fixtures had to be replaced or repaired.
- Bathrooms needed updating for elderly and disabled Brothers who rely on a walker or wheelchair and depend on stabilizing grab bars.
Please send a gift today. It will be very difficult to cover this cost without your help!
As a token of our appreciation for your gift, I’m enclosing personalized mailing labels created just for you. In addition to your gift, every Marist Brother will want to include your intentions in his prayers for you and your loved ones. So do take a moment to write your prayer intentions on the enclosed response slip and return it along with your support.
In closing, I wish you the best spring season ever! As the days continue to warm up, try to visit outdoors with friends and family. We’re all learning how to navigate this “new normal” and find wonderful moments to connect with others.
