When the pandemic struck, physical therapy clinics across the country immediately shut down – for everyone’s health and safety.
We knew it was the right thing to do, but we also knew that physical therapy is crucial for our elderly and disabled Brothers. Staying as active as possible safeguards their strength, dignity, and independence.
So, in a larger Marist Brothers’ retirement facility, where all 22 senior Brothers rely on a wheelchair or walker, we converted a small room into a makeshift “gym” and hired a physical therapist for weekly in-home sessions.
It turns out that our Brothers appreciate the ease of in-home physical therapy and we decided to make this new arrangement permanent. However, our physical therapist flagged several safety hazards in the improvised gym.
Your gift today will help us update the space and remove dangerous, outdated equipment.
Safety updates will total around $6,500. The biggest expense involves replacing damaged or outdated equipment that is not senior-friendly and investing in new equipment designed specifically for those who use a walker or wheelchair.
A safe in-home physical therapy room is not a huge project, but it does have enormous value in the long run. Your financial support, whether $15, $25, or more, will help us strengthen our senior Brothers’ health, welfare, and mobility.
We will be so grateful for your kind generosity!
If you or a loved one relies on a walker or wheelchair, then you understand how important strengthening exercises are. This does more than safeguard bones and muscles. Feeling physically strong also promotes mental and emotional health.
This is what your gift today will help support!
I am so sure that you will send a gift – and help us give our senior Brothers a stronger, more independent life – that I’m sending you a token of my deep appreciation. It’s a special prayer card that honors October as the Month of the Rosary. Every Marist Brother joins me in hoping that you will pray the Rosary each day along with us.
You’ll also see one nickel traveling with this letter. It’s a reminder that we’re working toward something important – one gift at a time.
Every Marist Brother also looks forward to thanking God for your kindness and including your prayer intentions during our daily prayers.
So, please take a moment to write your intentions on the enclosed response slip and send it back to me along with your gift.
In closing, we thank you for your continued support. As autumn begins to unfold, every Marist Brother wishes you happiness, peace, and pleasant days filled with the season’s most vibrant colors.
