In September, Bro. Leo Shea along with Bishop Raymundo Pena were honored at Guadalupe Regional Middle School in Brownsville, TX. Bro. Leo served as the founding President of GRMS, a tuition-free Catholic school for underprivileged students. He provided Guadalupe Regional Middle School with the sturdy foundation it is built upon today. As President, he was in charge of fund- raising and, through his efforts, Guadalupe Regional continues to provide education to students from low income households.
In November, Bro. Leo was inducted into the Hall of Fame, Class of 2015, at Marist High School in Bayonne, NJ. He began his career as a Marist educator at Marist High School teaching English, Latin and Religion among other subjects. Not only was he a classroom teacher, he was also a track coach. In his varied career, Bro. Leo served as teacher, counselor and Director of Guidance. Bro. Leo received the Spirit of Marist award for the passion he has shown for providing a quality, Catholic education to those who need it most.
