Dear Friends,

Imagine being stranded for two days on the ground floor because your bedroom is four stories up and the elevator is broken. You might say, “Take the stairs!” It’s a fine reply – unless you’re confined to a wheelchair or severe knee arthritis makes climbing the stairs excruciatingly painful.
That was the case for several Brothers in our larger, four-story retirement facility. When the elevator unexpectedly shut down, my heart went out to every Brother unable to reach his own warm, comfortable bed. Compounding matters, it took 48 hours and $1,231.62 in rush fees and parts to fix the situation – funds that strained our budget.
Surely you agree – we must prevent such a stressful and dangerous event from ever happening again! So, after repairing the elevator, we signed up for a maintenance program. The annual $3,901 fee is steep, but it covers everything, including scheduled service calls as well as all parts and labor. It’s such a relief to know that there won’t be any extra unexpected expenses and we can take care of repairs before danger strikes!
Our plan of action brought such peace of mind that we researched similar life-protecting maintenance programs, agreeing to schedule routine service calls for the building’s backup generator, costing $935 per year, and the fire alarm system, with an annual !1,290 price tag. In ??total, our Brothers’ safety programs come to $6,126 annually.
We have great faith that you completely agree with our decision and to show your support, please send a gift today!
It’s important that you understand how much your generosity matters. Whether you can afford $15, $25, or more, every gift makes a difference. If we work together, we can protect our elderly Brothers’ safety and independence.
We struggled over the $6,126 annual commitment. But at the end of the day we were left with one question: How can anyone say “no” to protecting lives.
Your gift will mean so much to so many. We pray that you’ll send your financial support today.

We cannot stress enough how much we rely on your generosity. It’s like the two nickels tucked in with my letter. One coin alone barely buys anything, but the balance doubles when you add the second nickel. In the same way, if every Marist Brothers’ friend sends what they can, the “nickels” add up. Soon we’ll have the needed $6,126 to cover all three maintenance programs. We may even collect enough to offset the earlier $1,231.62 rush
repair cost!
When your gift arrives, the Brothers and I will want to show
our gratitude. In addition to saying a prayer of thanks for our
generous friends, which we do every day in Chapel, we also want to??????? include your intentions in a most special Mass, held on the first Monday each month and dedicated to our devoted donors. Please, take a moment to write your intentions on the enclosed response slip and send it back to me along with your gift.
We look forward to hearing from you. Until then, we pray that your days are filled with good health and happiness.
God bless you,

Br. Dan O’Riordan, F.M.S.
Director, Senior Brothers
