Organized by the Marist Brothers Center at Esopus, Marist Evangelization and Marist Vocations: Working to recapture the spirit and excitement of the early days of the Institute, the Lavalla Weekend Experience is open to a select number of youth and an adult advisor from each of the school’s in our Marist network for a weekend of prayer, community, and service at the Marist Brothers’ Center in Esopus.
During previous LaValla weekends, the youth and adults who participated in the program constructed the Chapel in the Woods and the Peace Plaza at the Center in Esopus, and the Champagnat Meditation Path. This meditation path focuses on several pivotal moments in the life of our beloved founder, St. Marcellin Champagnat. Year after year, the young people and Marist adults who have participated in the project have assisted us in bringing the spirit of the Hermitage in France to our own Marist center in Esopus.
This year’s project will focus on further developing the new labyrinth in Esopus. Today, Brother Emili spoke about the use of Labyrinths as part of his presentation at l’Hermitage.
